Oh... your... God...
It was friggin breathtaking.
Support acts aside (one was a bit iffy) it was the best day of my life! The atmosphere was electric as the guys got onto the stage. They opened with Camera... it was incredible!
They played all of the big hitters as well as most of the back catalogue.
The four that got the crowd going most were:
Munich
All Sparks
The Racing Rats
Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors
All Sparks and Munich were the most succesful overall though.
Munich was just perfect!
The song started with Tom (The lead singer) in the middle of a black stage, all of the other members invisible and a huge spotlight focused on him. He played very slowly to one line of Munich, it sounded much different.
'With one hand you calm me... with one hand I'm still...'
When that line had finished all of the other members appeared in the lights and they ripped into Munich!
Incredible!
Tom has so much energy and appears to have four arms. It's almost like he plays guitar, piano and sings all at the same time. On several occasions he leapt onto the piano and on one he was lying, his belly on the piano, still playing the guitar which was hanging over the edge and his legs kicking frantically in the air. He drives the band on so well.
The bassist is really awesome. He's a great big bear of a guy and did some headbanging and pogo-dancing. The drummer and guitarist were amazing too.
At one point, someone had flung beer on the stage. This had to be cleaned up to avoid accidents, but the band took advantage of this. He had said thank you to the crowd and then they all walked off. Some guys came out and cleaned the floor, others made it look like they were taking kit away. Then we all started banging and cheering and the guys all came back on.
The finale was an incredible performance of Fingers in the Factories.
The whole thing was a dream-like experience. It is probably the best day of my life so far! I can't find the words to describe the awesomeness. It was so worth waiting in the freezing cold and going through an awful support band (there were two, one was great, and as said, one was iffy, if not, horrible) to get FRONT ROW SEATS!
I sang and clapped for the full two hours that the guys were playing! I will have to see them again. Now my wrist aches.
That's one hell of a first gig!
Forgot to say, I got a kickass T-Shirt (it's just plain black with 'E D I T O R S' on the front and tour dates on the back (all written in a smexy red) but it looks so right!) and an EP of the good support band (the violinist had an effects pedal XD).
And my birthdays tomorrow! Best birthday present ever! I didn't get back to my house till 11:30pm and was nackered today but it was sooooo worth it!
My music teacher is going to the gig tonight (they had two dates in Glasgow) so me and my mate (who came (in a Led Zeppelin T-Shirt XD)) will talk to her about it tomorrow. xd
Sorry 'bout Inactivity. Me is back... not that I went anywhere, not really...
