The USB connector has always been dodgy, and the fact I walked into it(Whilst it was sticking out of the PC) and almost broke it doesn't help. Once connected, it's usually alright, as long as the internet isn't used much for anything else because the Wii's the first thing to get kicked offline in an overload.
Getting it connected is the problem; everything has to perfect, the computer needs to be restarted with the adapter in the right port, then it has to be logged onto a certain account created just for it(so there is nothing running in the background) and then the internet connected and the wii linked up before it stops flashing. If it stops flashing(I still haven't found an explanation to why) before I'm online with the Wii then I have to do the whole process again. Usually takes about 15-20mins to get connected.
Apart from sometimes it doesn't do it at all(ie; last night >_<)

Sounds bad, or is that another understatement. If you ever get it working, go online, because you never know who you might see there.
